Jesse Hermann is a hero for wanting Kosher food! He is entitled to have it and we should be delighted to serve hiim his meals in prison for the next 20 years. When he gets out, we could put him in a band for 60 year olds and he could sing of the good ole days where he was allowed to have a hershey bar once every 10 years.

I’m not sure about the kosher options, but Detroit’s gluten-free options are growing all the time. I am amazed and happy with the number of establishments in the area that adopted gluten-free options in the past four years.

Finally justice for a man who operated with impunity in our community for decades. The facts in this case are tragic and the evidence showed that the current victim was not the only one.

Of course there should never be a rush to judgement toward either the accused or the accuser when a claim of sexual abuse of a minor is made. Shame on the commenter in previous postings who rushed to the judgement on defending Dembs and more specifically accused the victim of being motivated by money. It is that kind of response from the public that keeps victims from coming forward. My question to that previous poster: How do you feel about it now?

Here is what the Judge said (as reported in WXYZ):
“As I stated, you deserve a far worse sentence than you’re being given,” said Judge Shalina Kumar. “The damage that you have caused so many young children and their families is incomprehensible to me. And I cannot believe that you have been given the gift of intelligence that you were given and you decided to use it for evil…”
The judge could only sentence Dembs to a maximum of 10 years in prison because he pleaded to lesser charges. The family agreed to the plea deal to spare their boy from having to testify at trial

I defended Jeff as life-long family friend. I am heart-broken and sickened to even understand why he would commit such horrible acts. I guess at this point all one can understand that people can appear one way, and be very different in another. I hope all of the families, and especially his vicims will recover from the horrible experiences they had to experience. My prayers are out to all of you. I’m sorry if you ever thought I thought abusing children was ok. It is the worst offense anyone can engage in, especially when that person is supposed o be a trusted adult. I apologize to those I might have offended. Just know I was tricked, too.

I sent a comment earlier, but I’m not sure i was received. Yes, I was the one who could not believe Jeff was guilty of all of this. I feel tricked and deceived. I pray for his victim(s) daily. I also believe Jeff is ill and needs prayer, too. Should he be punished…absolutely! No one should ever hurt a child in this way. It is sickening. Maybe I shouldn’t always try to see the best in people. It doesn’t work for some. My prayer is that anyone that he injured finds the healing of God’s loving hand.
